Chilean Scientist and Archaeologist Flavia Morello Visited the Center

Chilean scientist and archaeologist Flavia Morello, Director of Patagonia Institute (Inst. Pat.) at University of Magallanes, visited the Center for Environmental Philosophy in mid-September 2023. During her visit, Prof. Morello observed indigenous sites around St Marcos and exchanged ideas about archaeological investigation and human settlement in South America with Prof. Alicia Re Cruz from the Department of Anthropology, Prof. Irene Klaver, and Prof. Ricardo Rozzi from the Department of Philosophy & Religion. During her visit, Prof. Morello also gave a talk to students in UNT's Sub-Antarctic Conservation class, entitled "Introduction to Indigenous People of Southern South America," enriching students' understanding of biocultural conservation through archaeological, ethnographic, ethnohistorical perspectives on the indigenous people, their cultures, habits, and habitats of southern South America. As part of the course's tradition, the students shared with her foods that are unique to their cultural traditions.
