New Realms of Beauty: Our Solar System

     

Aware of the role that landscape painting has played in developing nature attitudes on Earth, a number of astronmer/artists have begun painting other planetary bodies in the solar system in the hope that humans will develop similar concern for them.

Here members of the U.S. Geological Survey observe a volcanic display on Io, a moon of Jupiter, from the partial safety of a cave.
