Painting and Nature Preservation: Yosemite and Landscape Photography

Landscape photography played a similar role in the preservation of Yosemite.

There was a major improvement in the technical quality of photography in 1860. In 1867, landscape photographs of C. E. Watkins were awarded a bronze medal at the Paris International Exposition.

These photographs provided Yosemite with an international reputation.
